9/Apr/2010A new application is under porting developement to the EGEE Grid by the porting team of Netherlands with the support of SZTAKI. The dutch team is porting the Developing bioinformatics tools for processing and statistical analysis of LC-MS data obtained for biomarker discovery from the Life Sciences domain to EGEE, the world largest computational grid.

What service do we offer?

Porting legacy applications onto grid infrastructures is usually called "gridification".
The Grid Application Support Centre (GASuC) provides assistance to current and future grid users and application developers during the application gridification process. GASuC helps identify and apply best patterns, practices, tools and infrastructures in order to get your code running on production grids as soon as possible.

Who are we?

Grid researchers, grid tool builders and grid application developers from MTA SZTAKI (Computer and Automation Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences) are involved in the GASuC activity. The GASuC team has long running experience in porting applications onto cluster and grid environments. GASuC members have been participating in numerous successful R&D collaborations since 2001 in the fields of drug discovery, meteorology, and computational chemistry.

GASuC and the related projects

Between 2007 and 2010 GASuC has been supported by the world biggest grid project: Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE). Currently in the frame of EGI-Inspire, EDGI, DEGISCO, and SHIWA projects GASuC provides support for existing Service and Desktop Grid users and for grid newcomers to get their applications running on (among others) gLite and BOINC based grids.

How do we help gridify your application?

GASuC has an 8 steps support model starting with the analysis of the code and ending with the gridified application. GASuC experts analyze your legacy program as well as the requirements and with your active participation they elaborate the most suitable way of porting the code onto the Grid.

Who can apply for assistance?

Any academic or industrial application developer with demands for large number of computational and data storage resources is welcome. Grid users related to or interested in the EGI, EDGI, DEGISCO, and SHIWA projects and infrastructures have priority over the others.
